Funding Unsuccessful. This project reached the deadline without achieving its funding goal on 20/06/2017.

The project

The working component, especially in some fields including healthcare, can significantly contribute to create situations of high stress or burnout that may cause also severe diseases.

Stress is a condition where the requests to the individual are higher than its real possibilities: this creates an imbalance that becomes a source of possible negative feedback at physical, emotional, behavioral and cognitive level. The environment and work contents may therefore lead to conditions of exhaustion of physical and emotional resources with negative repercussions on individual’s health.

The literature shows that music therapy approach (active and receptive techniques) can have a positive impact on these factors both in pathological and non-pathological conditions.

The study will use a specific approach defined “music medicine” in which music listening can change the psycho-physiological state through the tailored use of songs that meet specific parameters, and musical structures, able to interact with the individual’s psychosomatic imbalances during stressful conditions (e.g. psychological distress, illness, hospitalization, etc.).

The music used in fact, will be composed by an artificial intelligence, Melomics-Health, on the basis of specific sound parameters and appropriate musical structures aimed at achieving the expected objective.

Psychological (clinical scales) and biological (cortisol level measure in a sub-group of the sample) assessments will be carried out as part of a pilot crossover study involving about fifty health care workers.

The study takes advantage of the collaboration of highly qualified institutions in the fields of medicine, psychology and technology in order to promote a high quality scientific research.
